Acupuncture Needles

Acupuncture

Balance Your Chi

Acupuncture treatments use tiny, single-use, sterile needles at points across the body to balance the flow of energy according to Chinese Medicine diagnoses.

All practitioners are qualified in clean needle technique to ensure your safety.

Points are located on meridians, or channels, running through the body. Needles may be placed at any part of the body local to the problematic area as well as away from it.

Herbal Prescriptions

Ancient healing

Chinese medicine has recognized the health giving properties of herbs for thousands of years. With recent Western Medicine research, many herbs were shown to have antibiotic and antiviral properties amongst other health supporting effects.

Each prescription is carefully tailored to the individual to treat a wide variety of ailments, and is also used for preventative care.

Your herbal prescription works alongside the other treatment modalities creating balance inside and out. Taking herbs as prescribed continues the healing process at home.

Cupping

Improve circulation, promote healing

Cupping is a great way to release muscle tension and promote circulation in tight areas. Tissues lifted by the cup suction allow for new oxygenated blood to reach otherwise tight and dense muscle tissues. Toxins accumulated in the tight area may now be flushed out, deprived muscles receive nutrients and now have the opportunity to relax and recover.

Cupping may result in cup marks that can be reddish or purplish, which are typically not painful and resolve within a few days.

Natural Healing

Guasha is a technique used for a variety of conditions, such as fever or muscle pain and it also helps reduce inflammation.

The body is stimulated with a tool in a stroking manner to release affected areas. Guasha may leave marks on the skin that typically resolve within a few days.

Treating the Whole Body

The ear is a reflection of the whole body. Auricular treatments are used to treat a variety of conditions including insomnia, addiction withdrawal, PTSD, and pain.

Tiny needles may be used as well as very small seeds attached to the ear with a little sticker. Ear treatments may be a main form of treatment as well as an adjunct. Treating through the ear is very effective due to its proximity to the brain.

Chinese Medical Massage

Tuina is a type of bodywork used in Chinese medicine that utilizes different hand techniques and acupressure to relax the body, improve local circulation and release tightness and tension.

It can be done gently or with strong pressure depending on the patient and the problem that is being addressed.

Electrical Stimulation

Electrical Stimulation

Reset and regenerate, hormone release

As a part of the treatment strategy for some patients electric stimulation may be applied. The treatments may include manual electrical stimulation of muscle motor points, applied to one needle at a time, or clips may be attached to several inserted needles with stimulation running continuously between 10 and 30 mins.

Electrical stimulation helps muscles to reset and relax and also stimulates the body to release more pain relieving hormones such as endorphines, that our body produces naturally.

Moxibustion (Moxa)

Promotes the movement of blood and qi, warms and tonifies

Moxibustion is a therapy used alongside acupuncture or on its own. The herb - Moxa - also known as mugwort (Arthemisia vulgaris, Ai Ye) is a common herb, that is dried and burned on the acupuncture needles or close to the skin to bring warmth to the body.

It can help strengthen the immune system, reduce pain (particularly in conditions that are worse in cold and damp conditions, such as arthritis), and treat gynecological conditions.
